caring for your garments

Once our items reach you, it’s up to you to ensure they are given their fullest life. To think of it simply: follow the care instructions, repair when needed, pass them on when you’re done with them.

Don't forget that TLC goes a long way in the world of clothing. Proper garment care isn’t actually that hard, and it doesn’t require much extra time or effort.

To help you lengthen the life of our clothes, check out our guidelines below.

don't overwash

Maintaining proper hygiene doesn't need to mean washing your clothes after every wear. Doing this is quite unnecessary, and probably doing more harm than good especially when it comes to the colour and structure of your garments.

wash properly

We have carefully specified the wash instructions on each of our items to ensure that they stay in great shape. Follow them!

We also recommend turning garments inside out before washing to protect the outer surface of the fabric.

dry naturally and immediately

Do not leave garments wet and sitting. Mold and mildew may form, and well, that’s just not a good time. Once washed, take out to dry immediately.

Always air dry. Using a machine dryer will permanently ruin the shape and feel of our garments.

get steamy

Our garments shouldn’t need to be ironed if you wash them gently, give them a little shake when they come out of the machine, and leave to air dry. If they do get a bit wrinkly, we recommend (where possible) steaming garments.

If you do iron, try use a damp function or steam setting. The moisture will help smooth the fibres making for an easier ironing job.

water is a stain's best friend

Our clothes are designed to be lived in. So, spills and stains are inevitable. When they happen timing isn’t always ideal either. But, it’s important that if you do get a stain, you dampen the area immediately with water. In doing so, the stain will already be pre-cleaned, which makes the proper wash more efficient. Particularly with cotton - cotton absorbs, so the longer you leave a stain, the worse it will get.
